SCHOLARSHIPS AND FEE CONCESSIONS

Scholarships and fee concessions are given by the Government and other bodies to students who are differently abled and those who are unable to continue their studies without financial help on the basis of the results of the last examination passed.

1. GOVERNMENT OF INDIA SCHOLARSHIPS

The Ministry of Education grants

  1. Scholarship for post-matriculation studies in Hindi to deserving students belonging to non-Hindi speaking States.
  2. Merit scholarship to children of primary and secondary school teachers for university education.
2. HARIJAN WELFARE DEPARTMENT SCHOLARSHIP

Students belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, other eligible communities and Backward Classes including Most Backward Classes of Tamil Nadu, whose pecuniary circumstances are certified to be such as to prevent them from proceeding their studies without the assistance of scholarships are granted scholarship by the Harijan Welfare Department.
The annual income of the parent or guardian should not exceed Rs. 2,00,000 for Backward Classes and minority communities and Rs. 2,50,000 for S.C. students.

3. INDIRA GANDHI NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP

Indira Gandhi National Scholarship for Single Girl Child is awarded to PG girl students who are single child to their parents

4.MERIT SCHOLARSHIP

Scholarships are awarded to deserving students by the Director of Collegiate Education. Chennai on the basis of the marks obtained by them in previous examination.

5. SCHOLARSHIPS TO CHILDREN OF POLITICAL SUFFERERS

Residential and Non-residential Scholarships for students in Arts and Training Colleges are awarded by the Director of Collegiate Education to the Children, Step-Children and grand-children by predeceased sons of political sufferers and children of persons who participated in the INA Movement studying in degree classes. The entire annual income of the family of the political sufferer or the guardian including that of the applicant from all sources should not exceed Rs. 3,600. P.G. Students are not eligible.

6. Thiruppanandal Adheenam Scholarship (Special Awards)

Five Special awards to the value of Rupees 200/- per student are given to poor Hindu students selected for their proficiency in the study and recital of “Kandar Kalivenba”.

7. Thiruvavaduthurai Adheenam Scholarship

Thiruvavaduthurai Adheenam education scholarship for UG and PG Tamil degree (each one) for students who do not avail any other scholarship and the students for this scholarship shall be selected by the College and the Adheenam.

8. STUDENTS AID FUND

The object of this fund is to render financial assistance to poor students to meet their expenses towards education.

9. FEE CONCESSION
  1. Girl students (P.G) are eligible for full fee concession of tuition fee from the Government provided that the annual income of the parent or guardian of the student does not exceed Rs. 50,000.
  2. Students belonging to Most Backward Classes and Denotified Communities who are undergoing Degree Courses are exempted from payment of tuition fee and special fees irrespective of the income of their parents. Fees will be deducted from the scholarship amount.

Note : The aids are tenable for three years in the case of U.G and two years in the case of P.G, subject to the following conditions’.

  1. Scholarship holders shall show uniformly good progress throughout the course. If they score less than the required minimum marks in any group in any of the college examinations or tests, the aid shall be cancelled
  2. They shall continue to stay in this institution till the end of the course. In the event of their not completing the course, they shall refund such portion of the aid as they have received.
  3. Their conduct and character must be good.
  4. They shall put in not less than 90% attendance in classes.
